Took my Triumph Tiger 800 on it's first long ride from Bombay to Goa

Overall a very satisfying ride that not only has built up by confidence to do 600+ km in a day but also built my confidence on my 8.5 year old bike!

BHPian MileCruncher recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

The 1st long ride on your motorcycle is like "deeply getting to know each other" phase of the relationship. In city and short 100K rides are like the initial courtship where you in awe of the machine and can find no fault. But a long multi-day ride is like marriage where you are exposed to not only the good but also to the not so good parts. It also gives you a visibility if this is the partner for long haul!

4 days and 1281Kms later, I think my know my steed well enough. A good solid Mumbai -Goa - Mumbai done. Onwards was done on sensible, decent roads taking the route as follows:

  • Mumbai - Pune through old NH4 done in pouring rain
  • Night halt at Hinjewadi by the highway
  • Start from Pune at 6AM on the NH4
  • Branched off at Karad for Malkapur - Anuskura Ghat - Oni
  • Joining NH66 at Oni for the last leg of 165Kms to Candolim.

Sporadic heavy rains through out the journey but Tiger performed flawlessly. However it was a mudbath and the bike was looking its true colour.

On the way back, against all sensible advice, decided to take the entire NH66 back via Sawantwadi - Oni - Ratnagiri - Sangameshwar - Chiplun - Mahad - Nagothane - Pen.

Lots of bad roads, no roads and roads under construction. The road is scenic and has some breathtaking scenery points. The Tiger just sailed through all the muck as well as tarmac.

Overall a very satisfying ride that not only has built up by confidence to do 600+ Kms in a day but also built my confidence on my 8.5 year old bike!
