Ather developing new Zenith & EL platforms for e-bikes & scooters

The new Zenith platform will support electric motorcycles with performance comparable to 125-300cc models.

Ather Energy is working on two new EV platforms, called Zenith and EL. While the former will support electric motorcycles, the latter is being developed as a more cost-effective architecture for the brand’s future e-scooters.

Electric motorcycles haven’t had as much success as e-scooters in India. Still, with motorcycles accounting for around 63% of the volumes, Ather estimates the share of electric motorcycles reaching 10% by the end of this decade.

While the exact details of the new Zenith platform are scarce, reports suggest that it will support electric motorcycles with performance comparable to 125-300cc models.

The EL platform is said to be in advanced stages of development. It will feature a new powertrain, electronics and chassis while incorporating the battery and Atherstack from the current 450 platform. It will spawn a range of e-scooters designed for both domestic and international markets.
