Test drove the Thar Roxx 4x4 D AT: Pros & cons as a prospective buyer

Front wipers are u-g-l-y. Even 3XO gets better wipers. I pointed this out to the sales person.

BHPian autobahnjpr recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Took a short test drive of the Thar AX7L 4*4 in the city area and here are my observations.

Pros:

  • The interiors of AX7L are quite luxurious compared to other versions. Soft touch plastics and other touches give it a premium feel.
  • ADAS is in full action. If you get too close to the vehicle in front, then there is a shudder in steering with beep sound. However, I am not a fan of ADAS.
  • The ride is P-L-U-S-H with excellent sound insulation at low speeds. Will test the same at high speeds later.
  • Feather touch steering - very female and senior citizen friendly as you can steer literally with a finger.
  • Large outer mirrors and good visibility from the rear view mirror give great visibility. the front window is vertical and small.
  • Engine is very refined. Only if you push it to higher rpms, it gets noisy and vocal.
  • Super audio system, very premium.
  • Commanding driving position.
  • There is lot of space inside due to heightened roof and you do not feel cramped in. If you open the sunroof, then it even makes it better.

Cons

  • Front wipers are u-g-l-y. Even 3XO gets better wipers. I pointed this out to sales person.
  • Door handles are flap type and there are no request sensors. Will have to fish out key every time to lock and unlock.
  • Turbo lag was prominent and it was slow to react on depressing accelerator.

Am planning to take another test drive at highway to test other things. Lets see.
