Volkswagen has confirmed "Tera" as the name of its all-new affordable SUV, set to debut in Brazil in 2025.
The all-new Volkswagen Tera will debut a brand new segment in the Brazilian market, positioning it below the brand's mid-size SUV, the T-Cross. The new affordable SUV is currently undergoing testing at a Volkswagen manufacturing facility in Brazil. The images showcase a design inspired by the brand's latest-generation Tiguan SUV, featuring LED headlights, a sleek front grille, air intakes on the front bumper and 17-inch wheels.
The new Volkswagen Tera will be based on the MQB-A0 platform, the international version of the MQB-A0-IN used in India on models such as the Virtus, Taigun, Skoda Kushaq & Skoda Slavia. In the Brazilian market, the Tera is said to be based on the Polo, even having the same wheelbase as the hatchback - 2,566 mm.
Once launched in Brazil, the new affordable SUV from Volkswagen will reportedly be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine. It produces around 116 BHP and will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Reports do indicate the Tera SUV to be Volkswagen's version of the recently unveiled Skoda Kylaq in India.
