Tata Safari Storme 400 Nm: More details emerge

Earlier this month, we had reported that a Tata Safari Storme powered by a more powerful 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine was spotted. Now, more details of the vehicle have emerged.

The Safari Storme will use the same Varicor 400 engine that was seen in the Hexa concept that was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. This engine puts out 154 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. It is mated to a G6450 6-speed manual transmission. The current Storme develops 148 BHP and 320 Nm of torque and has a 5-speed manual gearbox.

According to the information available, the vehicle can do a 0-60 kph sprint in 5.2 seconds and a 0-100 dash in 12.8 seconds. 

The new Storme will get an audio system with six speakers that can play music through CD, AM/FM, USB, iPod, Aux and Bluetooth. It has features such as an LCD screen, telephone connectivity, speed dependent volume control, controls on the steering wheel, a remote control for the rear passengers, reverse parking display.

Tata Motors will offer a standard warranty of 3 years / 1,00,000 lakh kilometres on the Storme. An extended warranty of 1 year / 50,000 kms can be purchased till 730 days from the date of purchase of the vehicle. An engine warranty of 3 years / 1,50,000 km is also being offered.
