Tata Punch could get an Electric Version in the future

The Tata Punch is based on the ALFA platform which is EV ready.

Earlier this week, Tata Motors unveiled its new sub-4m crossover called the Punch. At present, it is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, however, the company believes an all-electric version could be a possibility if there is demand.

The Punch is based on the Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) Architecture. It is the same platform that underpins the Altroz and is capable of handling electric powertrains.

The Punch could use Tata's Ziptron powertrain that debuted on the Nexon EV. It features a lithium-ion battery pack that powers a single electric motor. It has an output of 127 BHP and the battery offers a maximum range of 312 km (MIDC cycle).

The Tigor EV also uses the same technology. It comes with a 26 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 306 km. The electric motor has an output of 74 BHP and 170 Nm.
