Skoda Auto VW India is set to recall select units of its Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun and Virtus over a possible welding defect in the track control arm.
According to the SIAM website, due to production irregularities at the component supplier’s end, the weld seam on the affected track control arm might have been missed, which could lead to a failure of the component. If the track control arm fails, it could cause a sudden loss of stability and control.
According to the listing, a total of 52 vehicles manufactured between November 29, 2023, and January 20, 2024 have been affected. These include 38 units of the Taigun and Virtus and 14 units of the Kushaq and Slavia.
Skoda Auto VW India has yet to formally announce the recall. The carmaker is expected to contact the owners of the affected vehicles to inform them about the recall and to get their vehicles inspected at their nearest authorized service centre. The faulty track control arm will likely be replaced on these vehicles free of charge.
