Tata Nexon iCNG unveiled at 2024 Bharat Mobility Show

The Nexon iCNG will be India’s first CNG vehicle powered by a turbo-petrol engine.

Tata Motors showcased the Nexon iCNG at the ongoing 2024 Bharat Mobility Show.

The Nexon iCNG is equipped with Tata’s twin-cylinder technology, which features two small 30 litre cylinders instead of a single large unit. The cylinders are mounted under the boot floor, instead of taking up space in the luggage area. Speaking of which, the Nexon iCNG is said to offer 230 litres of boot space.

According to Tata Motors, the Nexon iCNG will be India’s first CNG vehicle powered by a turbo-petrol engine. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine that produces 118 BHP and 170 Nm when running on petrol.

The Nexon iCNG is equipped with a single advanced ECU, and a modular fuel filter and uses an NGV1 universal-type nozzle that is said to enable faster refuelling. The SUV can start in CNG mode and automatically switch between petrol and CNG modes.
