Tata Nexon EV battery degrades rapidly below 17% : Got videos this time

The same issue has reappeared again and fortunately I was able to capture that in a video. You can see that the charge dropped from 17% to 5% in around 5.2 kms.

BHPian gngdev recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I am seeing sudden drop in charge percentage when SOC drops below 17%. I had raised the same complaint before 5-6 months back. I took to Malayalam Motors Vazhakkala. The car was inspected by the Tata engineers and they mentioned they updated some software and asked me to ensure that the car is charged using slow charger to 100% consecutively for 7 days. It appeared to solve the problem though I rarely took it below 20%.

The same issue has reappeared again and fortunately I was able to capture that in a video. You can see that the charge dropped from 17% to 5% in around 5.2 kms (Kindly excuse the poor videography skills. I was just hoping to capture the evidence to show it to the Service engineers).

Also something that I have noticed is when the charge reduces rapidly, it gets charged rapidly as well. Say I plug in for 15-20 minutes from 5%, it reaches back to 17-18% in 15-20 minutes. Not sure if it is always the case but I have noticed it whenever there is a sudden fall in SOC.

I have not reported it yet (The incident happened last week) as it is not a problem above 20% of charge and as I am yet to get time for the same. It would be of great help if you can recommend a competent service station/SA that I can deal with in Ernakulam/Muvattupuzha, Kerala to get this issue sorted out. For now I am planning my commute in such a way that I can safely reach back home with 20% balance.

Here's what BHPian Vindi13 had to add to this matter:

Anyone facing battery drop-off after 20%, please report it and get the battery changed. I had the same issue and originally thought it was just some battery rebalancing issue. The battery has degraded in 2 years (bought in June 2022). am not sure if this is a batch issue from pandemic supply time.

Tata has replaced the battery in a week.

Here's what BHPian KA20NexonEV had to add to this matter:

You surely need a battery replacement. I too had facedexactly similar issues with my Nexon EV Prime- Jan-2022 at around 35k Kms. The Service center replaced my battery under warranty.
