Tata Movus will replace Sumo Grande

Tata Motors is gearing up to re-launch the Sumo Grande with minor updates and a new name. Motoring website, Motorbeam has managed to obtain the car’s launch presentation.

While the Movus will look similar to the Sumo Grande, it will receive changes to its mechanicals. The presentation suggests that Tata Motors will replace the Sumo Grande’s 2.2-litre, DICOR unit with the Safari Storme’s 2.2-litre, VARICOR, diesel engine, which is expected to be detuned to 120 PS. The company will offer a 1,00,000 km warranty on this motor. An improved, self-adjusting clutch with a life of 1,00,000 km is also on the cards. Other mechanical changes include a new timing belt system, a new rack and pinion steering unit and new brakes.

The Movus is also likely to feature some alterations to the interiors like a reworked dashboard and four seating configurations.

The Movus is likely to be aimed at the fleet operators and will compete with the Chevrolet Tavera and the Mahindra Xylo D2.
