SML Isuzu launches XM series of trucks and buses

Commercial vehicle manufacturer, SML Isuzu Limited has launched its XM series of trucks and buses in India. Classified in the 10 to 13 tonnes (GWV) range, these vehicles are available at SML Isuzu dealerships and are priced at Rs. 13 lakh onwards.

The company claims that the XM series is powered by improved engines, delivering higher torque and better fuel efficiency than before, thus reducing operating costs.

The models launched include:

  • Cosmo-XM – 3.058 m, cargo box truck, smallest in class
  • Super 12.9 XM – 12,990 kg GWV, 8,500 kg payload, 5.18 m / 5.80 m, steel high side / half side cargo box
  • S7 Buses 40 & 51 Seater – School and staff bus with optional air-conditioning

Two other models, the Samrat HD 19 XM and the Samrat Tipper XM, will be available from March – April 2014. Additionally, a new 40-seater bus, the FR 1318, is expected to be launched in the near future.

SML Isuzu, formerly known as Swaraj Mazda Limited, was set up in 1983-85 as a joint venture between Sumitomo Corporation, Japan and Mazda Motor Corporation, Japan. The company formed an alliance with Isuzu Motors, Japan in 2006 for the manufacture of commercial vehicles in India.
