Tata Kite compact sedan spied again

A test mule of the Tata Kite compact sedan has been spotted after many months.

The front of the compact sedan is similar to that of the hatchback with sweptback headlamps. Viewed from the side, the car seems to have a fastback design with a sloping roofline and the boot seems to be a lot better integrated into the design compared to most other sub-4 metre sedans in the country. The design gives the impression that the boot could be hinged right at the roof like the Skoda Octavia. The car is also seen riding on multi-spoke alloy wheels with a unique pattern.

The Kite hatchback and compact sedan are expected to be equipped with features such as a multi-function steering wheel, Harman-developed infotainment system and air-conditioning. Engine options could include a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre diesel engine. Tata may also offer CNG, LPG and AMT or e-clutch equipped variants of the cars.

Both, the Kite hatchback and compact sedan are likely to be manufactured at the Tata Motors plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Media reports suggest that the hatchback could be called Glade while the compact sedan could be called Boom.
