For decades, the simple table calendar from automobile companies has been more than just a utility. It's a piece of art, creativity, with some stunning marketing ideas, a conversation starter, and a year-long companion for us and actually it's a good accessory of your dream garage. These calendars, having some beautiful shots of iconic cars, concept designs, or even the company's vision. These calendars have always sparked dreams for every petrolhead.
Each calendar was a reflection of the brand’s identity, passion and vision. Whether its the sleek Italian machines, Mercedes-Benz's classic elegance, rugged 4x4 off-roaders, or a upcoming startup company with their latest technology, these calendars definitely brought us closer to the brands irrespective of your hate/love relationship. These calendars have successfully taken us to exotic locations or high-speed circuits.
I'm sure, for many of us, flipping the calendar pages to a new month is a ritual. Whenever I get a new calendar, I have always flipped through all the pages like a small kid in a candy store to see what's new. I'm sure some of us even kept these calendars long after the year was over.
But in today’s digital era, the table calendar is slowly fading away. Email reminders and smartphones have replaced the joy of flipping through glossy pages. But the experience of of touching, feeling the high gloss paper is a at a different level. Nothing can replace the nostalgia of spotting your dream car/bike on a table calendar. We take pride of displaying the favourite model or the brand on your desk or at your living room.
Let’s reignite the passion and celebrate!
To all the TBHPians, If you have any old or new auto company calendars - be it from Honda, Porsche, Mahindra, or Tata Motors, post them here. If there's a story behind it, do share it.
For me, I’ve been lucky enough to receive calendars from some luxurious brands. I’ve never purchased a calendar - the excitement of getting these as surprise is priceless.
Sharing a few pictures of my current calendars here. I only wish I had taken pictures of my calendars from the past 15+ years.
