Suzuki to launch Inazuma GW 250 in January 2014

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Suzuki is planning to enter the 250 cc segment in India with the launch of the GW 250 in January 2014. The naked street bike, which is also called the Inazuma 250, will take on the Honda CBR 250R, the KTM 200 Duke and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.

The Inazuma is expected to sport a 248 cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with a 6-speed transmission and disc brakes on both wheels. Suzuki plans to bring the bike to India through the CKD route and assemble it at their Gurgaon facility, which has a yearly capacity of 5,00,000 units. While this should help Suzuki in keeping the price of the Inazuma relatively low, it may still not be able to match the prices of locally produced KTM and Bajaj models.

Additionally, Suzuki has plans to show and launch more products at the Auto Expo in February 2014. The company plans to increase both its motorcycle and scooter range in the country. At the same time, Suzuki is also focussing on boosting its market presence with the expansion of its dealership network.
