Slipper clutch update for old KTM RC 390 and 390 Duke

KTM has introduced a slipper clutch assembly that can be retro-fitted on the old RC 390 and 390 Duke motorcycles. The slipper clutch assembly can be purchased for Rs. 9,000. The labour charges and other taxes will cost an additional amount. This upgrade can be done at any authorised KTM service centre.

The slipper clutch mechanism is usually seen in high end performance motorcycles. This mechanism reduces the effects of engine braking and allows you to downshift aggressively without damaging the gearbox. It helps you take on a corner at a higher speed. It also prevents rear wheel lock-up in the event of an engine seizure.

The 2016 KTM RC 390, which was unveiled at the EICMA 2015, was equipped with a slipper clutch. It also had a bigger front disc brake, reworked radiator fans, modified ECU dampers and a reworked frame among other changes(click here to read report).

The RC 390 and 390 Duke share the same 373.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine that produces 43 BHP and 35 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bikes are equipped with ABS.
