Skoda Kamiq revealed ahead of Geneva Motor Show debut

The Skoda Kamiq have been revealed ahead of its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The car will join Kodiaq and Karoq in the company’s European SUV line-up.

The Kamiq measures 4,241 mm long, 1,793 mm wide and 1,531 mm tall. The wheelbase measures 2,651 mm and the boot capacity can be increased from 400 to 1,395 liters. At the front, it gets a chrome bordered grille with vertical twin slats, split LED headlamps, a sliver skid plate and a full-width black airdam. The side profile reveals flared wheel arches, silver roof rails and a quarter glass in the C-pillar. At the rear, the Kamiq gets a dual tone bumper, inverted L-shaped tail lights, a roof spoiler and Skoda lettering in the middle. There is no logo at the back.

Interiors get an all-black colour scheme. The dashboard consists of a multi-function steering wheel and a 9.2-inch touchscreen unit, while a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster is available as an option. The Kamiq also gets soft-touch materials in the front door trims, ambient lighting in 3 colours, contrast colour seat stitching and heated seats for all occupants. Heated steering and windscreen are also offered. An eSim is provided for connectivity services like emergency assistance and remote vehicle access to check for unlocked doors and open windows via an app or web portal.

The Kamiq gets a range of turbocharged, direct injection engines with brake energy recovery. The petrol line-up consists of a 3-cylinder 1.0 TSI generating 94 BHP / 175 Nm and 113 BHP / 200 Nm and a 4-cylinder 1.5 TSI good for 148 BHP / 250 Nm. The base 1.0 is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the other two versions come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox. A 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter diesel engine with 113 BHP and 250 Nm is also offered with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox. A 1.0 G-TEC CNG variant is also offered with the SUV. The 3-cylinder unit will put out 89 BHP / 160 Nm and comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The Kamiq comes equipped with Front Assist and Lane Assist as standard. These include City Emergency Brake and Pedestrian Protection. Other optional features include up to 9 airbags, Side Assist, fatigue detection, adaptive cruise control, multi collision brake and park assists amongst others.
