Skoda confirms Rapid to get CNG variant

The Rapid CNG is likely to be powered by the 1.0L turbo-petrol engine.

Zac Hollis, Director - Sales, Service & Marketing, Skoda Auto India, has confirmed that the carmaker will introduce a CNG variant of the Rapid sedan. The car has already been spotted testing.

The Rapid CNG is expected to come with a factory-fitted CNG kit. It is likely to be powered by the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as the regular model. This motor produces 109 BHP and 175 Nm. However, we can expect a slight drop in performance when running on CNG.

Skoda's top boss has also revealed that the company will be launching four new products in the next 12 months. One of these is the Kushaq crossover, which is set to make its global debut on March 18.
