Skoda Chairman Bernhard Maier to resign

Bernhard Maier, Chairman, Skoda Auto will be stepping down at the end of July 2020.

Skoda did not give the reason for Maier's departure but the company has stated that his successor will be elected by the board in the month of August.

Maier has been leading the brand for nearly five years. He was appointed chairman in November 2015. Before taking up this responsibility, Maier was the Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Porsche. He has also worked with BMW in the past.

Maier's exit could be part of a broader management reshuffle at the VW Group. Earlier this year, Volkswagen had removed Herbert Diess from the post of CEO.
