Rumour: Skoda Rapid Rider bookings stopped; to get price hike

It is said that the bookings for the Skoda Rapid Rider have been stopped. Rumors suggest that the ex-showroom price of the car could be increased.

At launch, the Rapid Rider was priced at Rs. 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The price could now be increased to Rs. 8.25 lakh and the car could get additional features and could be sold as the Rapid Rider Plus.

The new Rapid is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 109 BHP @ 5,000-5,250 rpm and 175 Nm @ 1,750-4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The car is expected to get an automatic transmission, which could be launched in September 2020.

The Rapid is available in five variants - Rider, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo.
