Rumour: Skoda Octavia facelift India launch in July

According to media reports, Skoda is planning to launch the 2017 Octavia facelift in India in the early days of July. The Czech automaker is yet to make an official announcement about the updated sedan's launch. However, select Skoda dealerships have already started accepting bookings for the upcoming model.

The Octavia facelift has also been spotted testing on public roads in India. It is known that the facelifted car will get a new front fascia with split headlamps and DRLs. The headlamps will feature all-LED illumination on the top-end variant. Tail lights and the front & rear bumpers are also expected to get some minor tweaks, while the silhouette of the sedan will essentially remain unchanged.

The 2017 Octavia facelift might also come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, though the overall dashboard layout is likely to remain the same. The updated model's feature list is further expected to include hands-free parking, updated smartphone integration and a driver fatigue monitoring system.

No mechanical changes are expected to be made to the Octavia facelift. It is expected to continue to be offered with 3 powertrain options - 1.4-litre TSI petrol with a 6-speed MT, 1.8-litre TSI petrol with a 7-speed DSG and 2.0 TDI-litre diesel with a 6-speed AT.

Post the 2017 Octavia's launch, Skoda is expected to bring its high-performance version - the Octavia vRS to the Indian market.
