Rumour: Next-gen Hyundai i20, Creta to debut in 2020

According to a media report, Hyundai is planning to launch the next generation i20 sometime in mid-2020. The next generation Creta is also rumoured to arrive by the end of 2020.

The next-gen i20 is expected to be more spacious and will have a quieter cabin. It is also likely to be equipped with more features. Higher variants could get a touchscreen infotainment system and a sunroof. Reports suggest that the current 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines may be carried over with minor modifications to make them compliant with BS-VI emission regulations.

The next-gen Hyundai i20 will compete with the upcoming Tata X451, Honda Jazz and the Maruti Baleno in the premium hatchback segment.

The second generation Creta is expected to be larger in proportions compared to the current model. Apart from updated styling, the new compact SUV is expected to get new features. Reports suggest that Hyundai might introduce new BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines on the next-gen Creta. A seven-seat version of the SUV is expected in 2021.

The new Creta will take on the likes of the Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier and upcoming compact SUVs from Volkswagen and Skoda.
