Rumour: New Mahindra Scorpio to get five variants

Mahindra is expected to launch new Scorpio on September 25th (link). The SUV is likely to get some major updates, such as a new chassis and wider track, fresh interiors, new body work and fittings and a new gearbox.

According to a dealership, the Scorpio will be available in five variants - S2, S4, S6, S8 and S10. Here's a quick look at some of the equipment that will be available on each variant:

  • S2 - Entry level variant with the m2DiCr engine, 7 and 9 seater (side facing) configuration
  • S4 - Entry level variant with mHawk engine, 7 seater and 9 seater (side facing) configurations
  • S6 - 2-DIN audio system, the exteriors would be body coloured, 7 seater (side facing) and 8 seater (front facing) configurations
  • S8 - Dual Airbags and ABS as standard fitment. It would also come with alloys, 7 seater (side facing), 7 seater (captain seats) & 8 seater (front facing) configurations.
  • S10 – Top end variant with dual airbags, ABS, alloy wheels, touch-screen infotainment system, rain and light sensors, steering-mounted audio and cruise control switches, reverse parking assist, Micro-Hybrid technology and more features, 7 seater (side facing), 7 seater (captain seats) and 8 seater (front facing) configurations.

All variants will be available in 5 body colours – Diamond White, Fiery Black, Mist Silver, Molten Red & Regal Blue. The last two shades are new.

Mahindra has started accepting bookings for the new Scorpio since yesterday. Existing Scorpio owners have been given priority, with 3 days (September 15-17) kept exclusively for them. The SUV can be booked for an amount of Rs. 20,000. Prices and other details of the Scorpio would be revealed during the launch of the car.
