2023 Mahindra Scorpio Classic to get mid-spec S5 trim

The new mid-spec S5 variant will be positioned between the existing S and S11 trims.

Mahindra is all set to introduce its RDE-compliant lineup soon and that includes the 2023 Scorpio Classic. A leaked type approval document has now revealed more details of the upcoming SUV.

The Scorpio Classic was introduced following the launch of the Scorpio-N. At launch, the SUV was offered in two trims: S and S11. It is now expected to get a new mid-spec 'S5' trim. That being said, the Scorpio Classic range will include a total of seven variants offered in 7-seater or 9-seater configurations.

The new mid-spec S5 variant will be positioned between the existing S and S11 trims. It is expected to be offered with steel wheels, halogen headlamps, central locking, an audio system and electrically adjustable ORVMs. This variant is also likely to get safety features like dual airbags, seat belt reminders and speed alerts; among others.

Under the bonnet, the 2023 Scorpio Classic will carry forward the same 2.2-litre diesel engine updated to comply with the RDE norms. In its current configuration, the engine develops 130 BHP and 300 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
