Rumour: New-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire to be launched in May

As per some media reports, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the next-generation Dzire in India in the month of May 2017. The automaker hasn't revealed any official launch date yet.

The new Dzire has already been spotted without any camouflage and thus all exterior changes made to the new-gen compact sedan are already known. The updated model will come with a wide, chrome-lined front grille and new swept-back headlamps with projectors and LED DRLs. The 2017 Dzire is also expected to be styled more proportionately, as compared to the current model. Other design elements seen on the undisguised spy shots include a curvy side profile, new diamond-cut alloy wheels on the top-end model and new taillights and boot lid.

The interiors will also see a major update on the new-gen model. They will continue to come with a dual-tone black and beige treatment, though the dashboard layout will be revised. The car is expected to come with a new touchscreen infotainment system that will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The steering wheel will get a flat-bottom design and will come with faux wood and leather inserts.

Powertrain options are expected to be carried forward from the current-gen model. As a result, the new Dzire will continue to be offered with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder K-series petrol and a 1.3-liter, 4-cylinder DDiS diesel engine. While a 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard with both engine options, reports suggest that the petrol will come with an optional 4-speed AT and the diesel will get a 5-speed AMT.
