Rumour: Maruti Ciaz facelift bookings open in July 2018

According to a media report, Maruti is likely to open bookings for the Ciaz facelift by the end of July 2018, while the official launch could take place in the month of August.

The new Ciaz is expected to feature minor exterior updates. Also, the car is likely to receive a more powerful petrol engine. The 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol is expected to be replaced with a 1.5-litre unit with SHVS (mild hybrid system). This engine recently made its debut on the second generation Ertiga in Indonesia. It produces 103 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque.

It was earlier reported that Maruti would offer a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine on the new Ciaz. However, that plan has been dropped for the time being. The oil burning variants will continue to use the existing Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine.

The Ciaz facelift will compete with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna in the mid-size sedan segment of the Indian market.
