Rumour: Hyundai Palisade being evaluated for India

According to a media report, Hyundai is evaluating the Palisade SUV for the Indian market.

The Palisade is a full-size SUV. At the moment, it is sold in left-hand drive markets. However, reports suggest that Hyundai is working on a right-hand drive version for the Australian and South African markets. It is said that the Palisade could be imported into India as a completely built unit (CBU) under the revised norms which allow carmakers to import up to 2,500 vehicles per year without homologation.

The Hyundai Palisade measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,975 mm in width, 1,750 mm in height and its wheelbase is 2,900 mm. The SUV can seat up to 8 people.

In the international market, the Palisade is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 291 BHP and 355 Nm and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and has optional all-wheel drive. In India, Hyundai could also offer a 2.2-litre diesel engine option producing 199 BHP.
