5000 miles with my Hyundai Palisade: No better 3 row SUV at this price

I am happy with the fuel efficiency figures and the ADAS is so impressive that I use it extensively.

BHPian nikhilarni recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Initial driving impressions after owning this Barouche for about four and a half months clocking in about 5000 miles.

My driving has been predominantly city runs, saving for the 2 trips to DC and Jersey city.

  • I couldn't have found a better 3 row SUV for this price point. Agreed a CPO X7 or GLS would have been around a similar price point, but again it's new vs used. The third row being practical and comfortable for an adult. We did a few long-distance drives with the kids and my wife chose to sit in the third row, to keep an eye on the kids. She wasn't fatigued or cramped for space.
  • My daily runs are mainly to and from work, the day care and household errands. Given the hilly terrain of Pittsburgh, the mileage hovers around the 20mpg mark. I am happy with these figures.
  • The front wiper blades were replaced by the dealership. The new ones are much better.
  • Ingress and Egress are pretty easy. Especially with the captain seats, my wife is able to access the third row between the space of the two captain seats (in the second row).
  • Ambient lighting could have been a little brighter. Not footwell lighting and no third-row lighting is a miss from Hyundai. I hope they correct that with the next-gen.
  • All-round visibility is decent. Any blindspots are covered with the umpteen sensors and indicators.
  • The ADAS is impressive. I use it extensively. I just wish the Lane follow assist would activate on engaging the cruise control. I have to manually activate it every time
  • The car comes with a revitalizing feature called "Sounds of Nature", that essentially plays some soft instrumental music. I couldn't care less about it, but surprisingly, the babies tend to go off to sleep when I play one of those tunes. There have been times when my son has been very cranky at night and just wouldn't sleep. A quick drive with those nature sounds, and he's zoned out within 10 mins.

I am not big on modifications or aftermarket accessories, but I have been thinking about adding a hitch mount for my bicycle racks and getting the front windows tinted as well. I might do a PPF protection for the leading edges on this. Will post an update, when I do.
