Rumour: Datsun GO to be priced from Rs. 3 lakh

According to a report by motoring magazine Zigwheels, Datsun, the budget brand of Japanese carmaker, Nissan will launch the GO hatchback at prices starting from Rs. 3 lakh.

The report also claims that the GO will be available in three variants. The base variant will cost Rs. 3 lakh, while the mid and top variants will cost Rs. 3.5 lakh and Rs. 3.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

Datsun has been accepting bookings for the GO for a while now at a booking amount of Rs. 11,000. The first batch of cars is expected to reach dealerships by the weekend and deliveries are expected to commence by the end of March. If a customer is not happy with the retail price of the car, the full booking amount will be refunded.

The GO is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine mated to a 5-speed transmission, a combination borrowed from the Nissan Micra. It is an entry level offering, which will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon.
