Rumour: Bookings for Benelli Tornado 302R commence

Benelli has reportedly started accepting bookings for their upcoming middle-weight sportsbike - the Tornado 302R. As per some media reports, the company's authorized dealerships are accepting pre-bookings for the bike at a token amount of Rs. 30,000. The Tornado 302R is expected to be launched in India next month, i.e. May 2017.

The Tornado 302R is essentially a fully faired version of the TNT300, which is already on sale in India. It made its global debut at the 2015 EICMA Motor Show in Milan and was eventually showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.

It shares most of the components including the trellis frame, suspension setup and engine, with the TNT300. As a result, it employs a 300 cc, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve, DOHC, twin-cylinder engine, which has been tweaked to produce 35 BHP and 27 Nm of torque, while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Tornado 302R is expected to compete head-on against the likes of KTM RC390, Yamaha YZF-R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 300.
