Rumour: Ambulance versions of Omni, Eeco, Gypsy discontinued

Maruti Suzuki may have discontinued the ambulance versions of the Omni, Eeco and Gypsy. The company has reportedly sent out a communication to all its dealers notifying the same and dealers have been advised to liquidate all these models from their stocks. The car maker will also stop billing the said models to the dealers from February 28, 2018.

Priced at around Rs. 3 lakh, the Maruti Omni is the cheapest of the three and it also has the smallest engine. Omni is offered in 5-seater, 8-seater and Ambulance trims. It is powered by a 796 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 33 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 57 Nm of torque @ 2,500 rpm. It comes paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. 

The Eeco is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 72 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and a torque of 101 Nm @ 3,000 rpm. It is offered in 5-seat or 7-seat configurations with optional air-conditioning. The 5-seater version is also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. It also comes as an Ambulance and a cargo van in petrol or CNG variants. The EECO is sold with prices starting at Rs. 3.32 lakh for the base 5-seater variant.

The Gypsy is the most powerful of the three. It has a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder engine that produces 80 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 103 Nm @ 4,500 rpm and is comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It can seat up to 8 people. It is available in 3 trims - Ambulance, Hard Top and Soft top with prices starting from Rs. 5,70,369 (ex-showroom Delhi).

It is to be noted that the standard versions of the Omni, Eeco and Gypsy will continue to be sold.
