The second-generation Honda Amaze will reportedly make its global debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. The compact sedan is likely to be launched in the Indian market later this year.
There have been reports suggesting that the new Amaze will borrow styling cues from the Honda City. It will reportedly be slightly wider than the current model while the overall length will remain unchanged. Unlike the outgoing model which has a pretty mediocre interior and equipment list, the next-gen Amaze is expected to carry more features.
The new Amaze will likely be offered with the same powertrain options as the outgoing model. Currently, the India-spec Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 87 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 109 Nm @ 4,500 rpm. It also comes with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 99 BHP and 200 Nm of torque. While a 5-speed manual transmission is standard, the petrol engine is offered with a CVT as well.
The next-gen Amaze will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Ford Aspire which is also due for a mid-life refresh.
