Royal Enfield to increase its production capacity

In an attempt to reduce the long waiting periods on its motorcycles, Royal Enfield will be bumping up its monthly production capacity to 52,000 units.

Currently, the company is only capable of producing 37,500 units each month or 4,50,000 units annually. This year however, the production will remain the same. The additional facility will only be ready by December this year. The company has also purchased land for a third plant in Chennai, at an investment of Rs. 70 crore.

It also plans to strengthen its dealership and support network by opening 85 new outlets by December 2015, taking its total strength to 500. Out of these, 20 will be in Maharashtra alone.

Recently we had also reported that Royal Enfield is looking to introduce a new model every year starting from 2016.
