Renault Scala Diesel launched in RxE Trim

Renault India has launched the diesel powered Scala C-segment sedan in RxE trim. This news follows Team-BHP's earlier reportage of such a variant. However, the official press release from Renault includes information that is slightly different from our earlier report, in that the Scala Diesel in RxE trim gets ABS + EBD as standard. 

The Scala Diesel RxE, priced at 8.29 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi, is an entry level diesel engined variant with the following prominent features, 

• ABS + EBD + Brake Assist
• Driver Side Airbag
• Anti-Pinch power windows
• Factory fitted stereo system
• Rear AC vents
• Renault's 2+2 year/80,000 Kms warranty
• Roadside and navigation assistance

The car is now available for booking at Renault dealerships across the country. Notable deletions on the Scala RxE Diesel include passenger airbag, automatic climate control, alloy wheels and electric wing mirrors.

The 1.5 Liter K9K turbo diesel engine, outputting 85 Bhp-200 Nm, is retained as it is and so is the 5 speed manual gearbox. The Scala is also available with a 1.5 liter petrol engine that outputs 99 Bhp-134 Nm. The petrol engined version comes with a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard while an automatic CVT gearbox is offered as an option.

The Renault Scala C-segment sedan is the badge engineered version of the Nissan Sunny. The Scala shares its body shell, underpinnings and engines with the Sunny. The car is built at the Renault-Nissan joint manufacturing facility at Oragadam, off Chennai.
