Renault Kwid 1.0 specifications revealed; launch on August 22

Renault India has reportedly revealed specifications and feature list of the new 1.0L variant of the Kwid. The company's entry-level hatchback is being prepared for an August 22 launch.

The new Kwid 1.0 will be powered by a 999 cc engine that is capable of generating 67 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm, while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 23.01 km/l, which is slightly lower than 25.17 km/l ARAI fuel efficiency of the 800 cc Kwid. Renault will also add an AMT variant of the Kwid at a later date.

The Kwid 1.0-litre will be offered in only the top-end trims - RXT and RXT (O). Hence, it will get features like a dual tone dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, remote keyless entry with central locking, front power windows, and fog lamps. It will also get a driver airbag as an option.

Once launched, the Kwid 1.0 will rival the likes of the Maruti Alto K10 and the Hyundai Eon 1.0.
