NTPC to launch Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses & cars in Delhi & Leh

National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) plans to launch Hydrogen fuel cell powered electric buses and cars in Delhi and Leh.

According to a media report, NTPC will provide 10 buses and 10 cars in Delhi and Leh, as part of the initiative undertaken with the support of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

NTPC plans to generate hydrogen using renewable energy. The company is also developing storage and dispensation facilities as part of pilot projects in Delhi and Leh.

In November 2019, the Supreme Court of India had suggested the Government to explore the feasibility of hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles to curb pollution.
