Amidst rumours of its exit, Nissan has confirmed that it remains fully committed to the Indian market. The company has a long-term product plan in place, which includes a B-MPV and C-SUV.
During an interaction with the media, Nissan India MD Saurabh Vatsa said, “I am happy to say that all our product plans are on track and well underway.”
Vatsa also revealed the launch timelines for its upcoming products. He said that the B-segment MPV based on the Renault Triber will be introduced in Q1 of 2026, followed by the midsize SUV based on the Duster by mid-2026.
Nissan has also lined up a 7-seater SUV for India. It will be based on the Duster platform and is expected to debut in 2027.
The head of Nissan India also confirmed that pre-production of the upcoming B-MPV and C-SUV had already begun at the Renault plant in Chennai.
Nissan will be investing $700 million in its future portfolio. The carmaker has set a target to produce 200,000 vehicles at the Chennai facility by the end of FY2027, which is double the number of vehicles produced in the last fiscal.
