Nissan has confirmed that a new C-segment SUV based on the same platform as the new Renault Duster will be launched in India in FY2026. It might not use the ‘Terrano’ nametag this time around. A 7-seater version will be introduced by the end of the same fiscal.
Nissan has also released renderings of the upcoming midsize SUV. While its silhouette appears similar to the Duster, it does have a unique front fascia. Nissan’s version will get sleek L-shaped LED DRLs connected by an LED light bar, a simple, horizontal grille with the Nissan logo in the centre and thin chrome strips on either side, as well as chunky silver inserts on the front bumper.
Nissan hasn’t shared any details of the SUV’s interior. However, it is expected to be similar to the Duster and might come equipped with more features. The new mid-size SUV could get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera and automatic climate control with rear AC vents.
The new C-segment SUV will be offered a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine at launch. This unit is said to produce 152 BHP and 250 Nm and will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Features like all-wheel drive and ADAS are likely to be offered on select variants sold in the international market.
The upcoming Nissan midsize SUV will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Skoda Kushaq.
