The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has reportedly shared a document revealing that a system is being developed to catch overspeeding violators on highways.

According to the document, the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) is developing software that will use toll booth data to identify overspeeding vehicles. The time taken by each vehicle to cover the distance between two toll booths would help authorities identify those vehicles going faster than the limit.

Moreover, a similar system is already in place in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. Also, highway police in Maharashtra have been enforcing the speed limit on the Mumbai-Pune expressway using the same method, albeit by manually comparing the time between two toll booths.
