Next-gen Skoda Octavia spotted in India sans camouflage

An undisguised test mule of the next generation Skoda Octavia has been spotted in India.

The new Octavia gets a redesigned grille and LED headlamps as well as reworked tail lamp clusters with the Skoda lettering on the boot lid. The test car is riding on Rotare Aero alloy wheels. Just like the previous model, the new Octavia is also a notchback, where the rear windshield is attached to the boot lid.

In the international market, the new Octavia comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The car is offered with a 2-spoke multi-function steering wheel, while a 3-spoke wheel is available as an option. Skoda has also replaced the traditional gear lever with a switch.

In India, customers are likely to get a choice of two turbo petrol engines. These include a 1.5-litre TSI paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-litre TSI which could be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The new Octavia will compete with the Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic in the Indian market.
