Next-gen Maruti WagonR spotted without camouflage

New images of the next-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR have surfaced online. The latest undisguised images give a glimpse of the car's exterior styling.

The new WagonR for India looks different compared to the one sold in the international market. However, it retains its tallboy side profile. At the front, it has large sweptback headlamps and a redesigned bumper. It has blacked out B-pillars and the C-pillars have been partially blacked out to create an impression of a floating roof. At the rear, the new Wagon R has larger, vertically stacked tail lamp clusters. The near vertical rear end has the license plate mounted on the tail gate, while the rear bumpers have a set of integrated reflectors.

Reports suggest that the new WagonR will be based on the same platform as the outgoing model. However, it is likely to be re-engineered to meet the new crash safety regulations. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine is expected to be carried over. Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT. A CNG version is also likely to be offered at launch.

The next-generation WagonR is rumoured to hit showrooms sometime in 2019.
