Next-gen Audi A7 spotted testing

Spy shots of the next-gen Audi A7 have surfaced on the internet. The A7 test mule that has been spotted is still an early prototype. The new A7 is likely to be unveiled in 2018.

Audi doesn't plan to make any significant changes to the A7's exteriors. As a result, the car is likely to get the same silhouette, though a few cuts and creases will be added to make it look a bit more muscular. On the other hand, there will be some comprehensive changes made to the interiors.

The new-gen A7 will be based on the company's new MLB-Evo platform, which is expected to make the car lighter than the one it replaces. The MLB-Evo platform made its debut under the second-gen Audi Q7, and will also underpin the upcoming new A8.

Not much about the engine specifications of the new Audi A7 is known at the moment. However, speculations suggest that Audi will borrow engines of the new-gen A8 for its smaller sibling. The A8, in turn, might use some of the engine options that are available in the second-gen Q7 SUV. But, while the A8 is likely to get a plug-in hybrid variant, the A7 is not expected to get one.
