New York: Honda debuts the 10th generation Civic concept

Honda has presented the Civic concept at the 2015 New York motor show. The concept has been showcased as the brand prepares to launch the 10th-Generation Civic later this year. The new Civic line-up will include the Civic Sedan, Coupe and Si models, along with the return of the Civic hatchback, followed by the launch of a new Civic Type-R.

The concept car features a low slung design and wide stance and Honda says the wheelbase increases too. Up front, the concept gets LEDs headlights and LED highlights in the air vents, an aggressively designed front bumper and the “Flying H” front grille. To the side profile, we see a sharply sloping roof-line, katana styled alloy wheels wrapped around by low profile tyres and extremely sleek wing mirrors with LED turn signal lights. The rear design is highlighted by a central exhaust muffler, a rear bumper with sharp cuts, interconnected LED tail lights and a body coloured, boot mounted spoiler.

The new Civic will be the first U.S model to apply the new VTEC turbo engines from the company's Earth Dreams Technology powertrain series. The Civic will be offered with a 1.5L, direct-injection, turbo-VTEC engine that can be mated with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic. Safety features will include lane departure warning, forward collision warning, multi-angle rearview camera, adaptive cruise control and Honda LaneWatch.
