New vehicle registrations down by 88.87% in May 2020

According to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), vehicle registrations declined by 88.87% due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown in the month of May 2020. Overall sales stood at 2,02,697 units, compared to 18,21,650 units in May 2019.

2-wheeler sales declined by 88.80% to 1,59,039 units compared to the same month previous year.

3-wheeler sales were down 96.34%. Just 1,881 units were sold compared to 51,430 units in May 2019.

Passenger vehicle sales saw a decline of 86.97%. 30,749 units were sold compared to 2,35,933 units in May 2019.

Commercial vehicle sales also dropped by 96.63%. Only 2,711 units were sold in May 2020.

Tractor sales were also down by 75.58% to just 8,317 units.
