New-gen Maruti Dzire: Official sketch revealed, launch in May

Maruti Suzuki has released an official sketch of the new-generation Dzire compact sedan. The automaker has also confirmed that the new Dzire will be launched in May 2017, though a specific launch date hasn't yet been mentioned. However, reports have suggested that the official launch will take place on May 25, 2017. Interestingly, the media announcement made refers to the updated model to as the 2017 Dzire, which indicates that Maruti might have decided to drop the 'Swift' name from the new-generation model's moniker.

The sketch also reveals a few design cues of the third-gen Dzire. These include LED DRLs in the headlamps, multi-spoke alloy wheels and curvy character lines around the front and rear fenders. Undisguised spy shots of the new Dzire have already been leaked, revealing all major design changes made.

While the exteriors and interiors of the new Dzire are expected to get some comprehensive changes, the engine options will likely remain unchanged. As a result, the new Dzire is expected to be offered with two power plants - a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol and a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder diesel. Both these engines will be available with a 5-speed manual, while an automatic gearbox will be offered as an option on select trims.
