New-gen Kia Sportage SUV globally unveiled

The new Kia Sportage SUV features a completely revamped design, offering a sharper and sportier look.

The new-generation Kia Sportage SUV has been globally unveiled. The all-new Sportage now comes with a completely revamped design, offering a sportier stance compared to its previous model.

The new Kia Sportage is said to be a result of the collaborative effort between the brand's global design network in Korea, USA, China and Germany. The updated Sportage SUV is based on Kia's new 'Opposites United' philosophy, which first debuted on the brand's EV6 electric SUV.

In terms of exterior design, the new Sportage features the brand's signature tiger-nose grille at the front, flanked on either side by boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. The SUV also comes with new front and rear bumpers, a new concave-shaped boot lid, LED tail lights, a prominent roof spoiler and flared wheel arches housing newly-designed alloy wheels.

Inside, the Kia Sportage features a more minimalistic look with an integrated dual-screen panel angled towards the driver. The SUV also features a dual-tone cabin with piano-black finish on the centre console, a three-spoke steering wheel and soft-touch haptic switches all around.

Alongside the standard variants, the new-gen Sportage will be offered in a more rugged 'X-Line' trim as well. This trim will come with a new bumper, side sills and a curved roof rack. It will also come with signature sage green or black seats and black metal-wood finishes inside.

Kia is yet to unveil the powertrain details on the new Sportage SUV. The Korean carmaker is expected to reveal these details closer to launch, which is scheduled for later this year. However, the SUV could come with a number of powertrain options, including mild and plug-in hybrid choices.
