During 1st week of October, I visited Goa with my wife and daughter. 3 yrs back we moved from Pune to Hyderabad. When we used to live in Pune we always used to drive to Goa and hence never relied on cabbies for travelling within Goa. But this time since we were flying down from Hyderabad to Goa and back, let me share my experience with the cabbies.
I was aware that Ola and Uber don't operate in Goa. So I thought why not book a cab beforehand from Airport to our resort in Utorda. Found some cab booking websites and contacted them. Initially the cheapest offer I got was from MakeMyTrip which was charging ₹1050 from Airport to Utorda which was just 17 kms.
I looked into travel forums to see if I find any better options and came to know about Goa Miles. Goa Miles was charging ₹790 for the same trip. So I cancelled the booking on MakeMyTrip and booked the cab on Goa Miles.
When I reached Goa Airport, I found that Goa Miles was Govt based cab booking company. Now I found the pricing of Goa Miles to be at par with other Govt cab booking points. If I go to Delhi and book a cab from Govt approved pre paid service at airport to my home which is 25 kms away, I would need to shell out ₹900.
Overall the cab was good, driver was polite and dropped us at our resort without any fuss. The best part was even though I had already paid for the cab in the app itself, he didn't asked me cancel the booking and give him cash.
We stayed at the Resort for 3 days and booked cab from Resort to various places in Goa twice. Since the resort was at a remote location, the cabs used to come after 15-20 mins but I never faced any issue. The pricing was on higher side but since I am not a regular traveller who uses Goa cabs on regular basis, I didn't mind the extra charges for the service
Overall I am satisfied with my cab experience in Goa. Yes it's expensive than Ola Uber but I am only using them once or twice in a whole year. Goa Miles cab charges are at par with other state government cab agencies.
