Second free service update
Odo: 4336 kms.
Limo got the second free service done at Nexa Mahadevapura. As always, Jimny gathers attention everywhere!
This center has an open bay which accommodates three cars - since I made it clear that I wanted to have a look at the propeller shaft AND that the service experience would be covered as part of the review here, they were totally okay with me hanging around
Harish is the service advisor and I found him very prompt, efficient and attentive.
My requests: Engine oil change - 0W16, tire rotation, extremely spongy/ineffective brake, info unit software update, interior vacuum cleaning (and a strict instruction to not touch/use the 4x4 lever).
Santosh, the mechanic showed me the air filter, cabin filters upon my request. I asked to blow-clean the air filter and replace cabin filter. Battery needed a slight top up of distilled water. All the door latches were greased. All in all, took about 1.5 hours for the service and am very happy with the work done and the behavior of the crew.
Cabin filter
That's where the cabin filter goes - behind the glove box
Once the Jimny was up the lift, I had a look at the underside and was very thankful to see that the dreaded propeller shaft injury mark was not to be seen and all was clear! Tried spotting any oil seepage but again, all okay.
Total service cost: Rs 2431.
Next service is at 10,000 kms or 6 months, whichever is earlier. Yearly service follows that.
I also used the occasion to get the sun blinds installed (had not done during delivery) and bought a luggage cargo net for Rs 1000 and four D hooks for Rs 200.
Limo seems happy after the engine oil change but I don't see much of a difference in the braking performance despite bleeding the lines. MASS was not okay with using DOT4 so, that is an open item.
Bangalore Jimny Owners: Would really want to test drive a Jimny with throttle controller and GAN chip to see which one makes sense - do we have an owner's group here in Bangalore?
