My 5th-gen City completes its running-in process: Initial impressions

As compared to my other two cars (Amaze 2023 and Triber 2022), this is in another league.

BHPian nikhil_s recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Took my City V MT for a few long rides to tide over the running-in period - mostly on NICE Road / Mysore Expressway and via city traffic to KIAL. In total 300km so far. Keeping the rpm below 3k and also running steady at different speed + gear combos. Max I took was 85kmph.

Am planning to give it for 1st service tomorrow itself as I'm travelling out of station for a month.

The car is really comfortable and family didn't complain so far on the 150km ride. As compared to my other two cars (Amaze 2023 and Triber 2022), this is in another league.

  • The engine is super-smooth and revs effortlessly
  • NVH is excellent (main reason I picked this over the excellent Elevate).
  • The clutch and gear-shift are smooth.
  • There is really good legroom in the back seat.
  • Mileage so far for 300km is around 15.5kmpl for smooth driving.
  • Ground clearance (GC) is nothing to complain about. Crossed some really large humps (Bangalore-grade ) near toll-booths without much problems (5 onboard = 1 male + 3 female adults & 1 pre-teenager).
  • Suspension is quite soft and absorbs bumps easily. Compared to this, my Amaze feels like I'm riding a cycle!! It's super hard. Can't say how it is when driven fast.
  • ADAS is really effective. On Mysore road, many times when I changed lanes without giving the indicator, the steering juddered and moved back the car the original lane.

I'm a sedate driver and am done with fast driving considering the state of the roads and the amount of cars on the highway.

All-in-all, it's a wonderful car. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, reliable car. Thanks to this wonderful forum for all the input which helped me make this great choice.
