Mustang coming to India by the end of the 2015

In 2013, we had reported that Ford was considering the introduction of the 2015 Mustang in India. The American car maker developed and began testing a right-hand drive version of this iconic muscle car for the first time to cater to several right-hand drive nations. Ford plans to sell this sixth-generation Mustang in 120 countries.

Now, a media report suggests that Ford plans to launch the Mustang in India, later this year. This car is likely to be brought via the CBU (completely built unit) route, hence pricing isn't going to be attractive. However, the Mustang will be the company's halo offering with the sole intention of creating an aspirational appeal for the blue oval, rather than targeting volumes. The Mustang has been one of the most popular cars in the world with more than 9 million copies sold since it was introduced in 1964.

Internationally, the Mustang is available with a 3.7 liter V6, 2.3 liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost and a 5.0 liter V8 petrol motor. It will be interesting to see which engine is makes it to India, although Autocar speculates that the EcoBoost unit producing 305 BHP and 406 Nm of torque might be brought down.
