More images: Tata Kite hatchback spotted again

The upcoming Kite hatchback from Tata Motors has been spotted testing once again. This time the test mule is seen wearing some body parts that are likely to make it to the production-spec version of the car.

The Kite is expected to retain the smiling front fascia that is synonymous with Tata cars. The spy images show a honeycomb mesh grille, bulging headlights, an air dam with a black horizontal slat running across it and front fog lamps. At the rear, the Christmas tree tail lamps that have been seen on Tata hatchbacks since the Indica are likely to be replaced by more modern units. The boot lid is curved and there is a roof-mounted spoiler. The number plate is mounted on the rear bumper and there is a fog lamp below it. The rear windscreen gets a semi-circular pattern for the defogger.

The Kite is likely to be powered by a new 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder, common rail diesel engine that is expected to put out 64 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. A 1.2-litre petrol engine is also likely to be available. LPG, CNG and AMT-equipped variants could be on the cards as well.

The Kite is expected to replace the Indica in the company's line-up. It is likely to be rolled out of Tata Motors' Sanand plant.
